Finding Us
Upon arrival to the McMaster campus, enter the Nuclear Research Building (NRB) through the west (main) entrance to the new NRB Annex and take the elevator to the third floor. Signs will point the way to the Nuclear Operations and Facilities reception area.
The closest parking lot is Lot I as shown below. To get the NRB follow the path as shown below.


Book a Tour
The McMaster Nuclear Reactor offers complimentary tours of the nuclear reactor facility to interested parties. Each tour is conducted by a trained guide or Nuclear Operations & Facilities staff member and is approximately 60 minutes in duration. Tours are available Monday – Friday 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

Tours are subject to the following conditions:
- Each participant must fill out the visitor information card available here: Reactor Visitor Information Card.
- Each participant present government-issued photo identification (driver’s license, passport, etc. – health cards are not accepted) prior to embarking on the tour.
- There is a maximum of 10 persons per tour, with no more than 3 tours going through the reactor building at any given time.
- If a participant is under the age of 18, the tour card must be filled out and signed by a parent or guardian.
- All participants must be at least 11 years old.
- All participants must wear closed-toe low-heeled shoes and long pants, (no sandals, high-heeled shoes, shorts or skirts).
- The reactor tour involves some enclosed spaces.
- Participants’ cellphones, cameras, backpacks etc. are not permitted inside the Reactor; these must be left in locked storage in the tour lobby.
- MNR cannot guarantee that any tour where visitors are 15+ minutes late will be able to proceed. Tours that start late may be shortened in duration. Any tour where visitors are 20+ minutes late is assumed to be cancelled.
- MNR reserves the right to refuse admission at our discretion.
When arranging your visit to MNR, it is helpful to indicate your group’s name and affiliation so that we may tailor the presentation to your group’s age level and interest.
