Next Generation in Nuclear Medicine Workshop (June 12 – 14)

Next Generation in Nuclear Medicine Workshop

Date: June 12 – 14, 2024
Location: McMaster University | Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

McMaster University’s Nuclear Operations & Facilities (NOF) and King’s College London’s (KCL) School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences are partnering to deliver Next Generation in Nuclear Medicine: A Workshop for Young Professionals in Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, from June 12 – June 14, 2024, at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

Consistently ranked among the top 10 universities globally in Radiology, Medicine, and Medical Imaging, KCL is home to exemplary faculty and staff who are at the forefront of advancements in nuclear medicine. With its unique suite of world-class nuclear facilities, NOF is home to Canada’s only major nuclear research reactor, as well as hot cells, particle accelerators, high level laboratories, neutron radiography stations, and much more. This partnership combines the extensive nuclear research facilities and instrumentation and personnel expertise of both institutions to deliver a unique learning opportunity.

Participants will learn from activities such as neutron activation analysis and neutron radiography at the McMaster Nuclear Reactor, radioisotope production in a cyclotron, and discussions on emerging advancements in nuclear medicine such as total body positron-emission tomography (PET), alpha therapy, and radionuclide production in Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). This workshop will develop the academic, technical, and professional skills of senior graduate students and early-career professionals to promote the forward-thinking problem-solving skills for participants to become leaders that tackle the biggest challenges of nuclear medicine in the future.

Completion of this workshop will give learners a fulsome core-to-clinic understanding of nuclear medicine.
