Nuclear Operations & Facilities welcomes new Manager, Quality Management and Training
Nuclear Operations & Facilities (NO&F) is pleased to announce that Brett Schoenfeldt has joined the NO&F team as Manager, Operations Quality Management and Training.
A two-time McMaster graduate, Schoenfeldt received his Bachelor of Arts in Labour Studies and his Master of Arts in Work and Society. He has over 15 years of quality management experience with Patriot Forge – Canada’s largest custom forging company and a key supplier to the nuclear industry.
Schoenfeldt joined NO&F in Spring 2022 and has since been overseeing several of the unit’s quality management initiatives, which includes developing training programs to support staff who work within McMaster’s nuclear research reactor.
“I am very excited to be working at Nuclear Operations & Facilities; it has been a long-standing goal of mine to oversee quality assurance in a nuclear reactor environment. I look forward to working with the NO&F team to enhance the unit’s Quality Management System in a holistic way by incorporating key health, safety, environment, security, and economic considerations into our processes and daily practices,” says Schoenfeldt.
Schoenfeldt assists in the administration of NO&F’s management system and is responsible for the design, development, implementation and review of NO&F’s training programs – to ensure McMaster Nuclear Reactor (MNR) staff have the knowledge and skills needed to operate the reactor and related equipment effectively and safely.
Schoenfeldt will also interact regularly with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) – Canada’s nuclear energy and materials regulator – to propose training programs in accordance with the CNSC’s regulations and schedule reviews of the McMaster Nuclear Reactor and operations staff.
“Nuclear Operations & Facilities is pleased to welcome Brett Schoenfeldt back to McMaster, where he will play an instrumental role in fulfilling training needs at MNR,” says Chris Heysel, Director of McMaster’s Nuclear Operations & Facilities.
