About
McMaster University’s Nuclear Operations & Facilities (NOF) and King’s College London’s (KCL) School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences are once again partnering to deliver Next Generation in Nuclear Medicine: A Workshop for Young Professionals in Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, from June 2 – June 5, 2026, at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
Consistently ranked among the top 10 universities globally in Radiology, Medicine, and Medical Imaging, KCL is home to exemplary faculty and staff who are at the forefront of advancements in nuclear medicine.
With its unique suite of world-class nuclear facilities, McMaster is home to Canada’s only major nuclear research reactor, as well as hot cells, particle accelerators, high level laboratories, neutron radiography stations, and much more. This partnership combines the extensive nuclear research facilities and instrumentation and personnel expertise of both institutions to deliver a unique learning opportunity.
Participants will learn from activities such as neutron activation analysis and neutron radiography at the McMaster Nuclear Reactor, radioisotope production in a cyclotron, and discussions on emerging advancements and innovations in nuclear medicine such as total body positron-emission tomography (PET), alpha therapy, and applications of AI in nuclear medicine. Participants will also be challenged to complete a medical isotope focused case study in small groups.
This workshop will develop the academic, technical, and professional skills of participants to promote forward-thinking and problem-solving skills needed to become the next generation of leaders that tackling the biggest challenges of nuclear medicine in the future.
Completion of this workshop will give learners a fulsome core-to-clinic understanding of nuclear medicine.

EOIs will be reviewed on a rolling basis and selected participants will be contacted directly to confirm participation — submit your EOI early to avoid disappointment!
Registration Fees
Student participation in this workshop is free of charge. This includes undergraduate and graduate students. Post-doctoral fellows will be reviewed on a case by case basis for free registration.
For other participants, the workshop registration fee is:
- $750 CAD + tax for registration only — no on-campus accommodation
- $1050 CAD + tax for registration with on-campus accommodation
Payment instructions will be provided with successful registrants directly.

On-campus accommodation is available at McMaster University in Les Prince Hall
Please complete the expression of interest form to indicate whether you will need on-campus accommodation.
Participants who do not require on-campus accommodation are responsible for their own accommodation and transportation to/from campus for the workshop.

Workshop FAQs
This workshop is primarily geared toward senior graduate students and early career professionals (<5 years experience).
On a case-by-case basis, upper-year undergraduate students will also be considered.
No. Selected registrants are expected to participate in the entire workshop program and are not permitted to skip activities.
Staying on campus is not required for participation in the workshop, particularly for participants residing in the Greater Hamilton Area.
For those coming from greater distances, staying on-campus is recommended to ensure the most fulsome workshop participation.
The following food is provided:
- Light continental breakfast
- Coffee/tea
- Hot lunch
- Reception dinner on the opening workshop day
- Pub dinner on the third workshop day
Remaining meals and snacks are responsibility of individual registrants.
