Next Generation in Nuclear Medicine Program

June 3-5, 2025

McMaster University and King’s College London (KCL) hosted the second annual Next Generation in Nuclear Medicine Workshop (NGNM) from June 3-5, 2025.

Focused on the fields of nuclear medicine, molecular imaging, and radiotheranostics, NGNM offers participants the opportunity to develop their academic, technical, and professional skills.

This workshop features a suite of hands-on learning activities in nuclear facilities, lectures from faculty experts at McMaster and KCL, and networking opportunities with graduate students and early career professionals from a diverse set of academic and professional backgrounds.

Participants leave with a fulsome core-to-clinic understanding of nuclear medicine.

Lise Meitner Programme

July 14-28, 2025

McMaster University and Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) welcomed the 2025 IAEA Lise Meitner Programme (LMP) to Canada.

Established in 2023 by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the LMP provides early and mid‑career women in nuclear with opportunities to advance their technical and leadership skills through a multi-week visiting program.

Fifteen participants from around the world — representing countries like Argentina, Kenya and Vietnam — spent one week at McMaster and one week at CNL to gain first-hand experience in nuclear research and innovation with a focus on research reactors, as well as guidance on professional development from some of Canada’s top nuclear experts.

Day Programming

From industry professionals to new grads in internships to high school youth, half-day and full-day programming provides an immersive hands-on experience in a bite-sized option.

Nine Ontario high school students and their teachers - Iain Braithwaite (Physics) and Nick Key (Chemistry) – stopped by the McMaster Nuclear Reactor, where their classroom lessons came to life at the University’s nuclear research facilities.

Student-Focused Programming

Bringing opportunities for academic and professional development to students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Nuclear 101
