McMaster Nuclear Operations and Facilities (NO&F) is dedicated to teaching young scientists and engineers about nuclear technology. One of the ways NO&F engages students is by providing summer co-op or internship opportunities for nearly two dozen undergraduate students from a diverse range of undergraduate programs. McMaster is the only university in Canada where undergraduate students are given the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with an operational research reactor. Students can perform as assistant reactor operators and gain experience in reactor operations, radioisotope production, engineering physics and operation and maintenance of particle accelerators. Summer students for 2019 are given the chance to take a photo standing on the bridge directly above the reactor core.
